HRV softball goes 2-1 in NWOC play

HOOD RIVER — The Hood River Valley High School softball team went 2-1 in a three-game Northwest Oregon Conference league play stretch this past week, with a 9-3 win at Milwaukie High School on April 28, a 6-3 win at home against Milwaukie on April 29, and a 14-1 loss at La Salle Prep on May 1.

Hood River got off to a 4-2 start in league play, but the wins came against Parkrose and Milwaukie, which are a combined 0-16 in the conference. The schedule from here on out is much more grueling. Sixth-ranked La Salle, eighth-ranked Canby and No. 11 Wilsonville – HRV’s next three opponents – are a combined 22-2. Hood River’s two other league losses were to seventh-ranked Putnam.

This week, HRV (5-12, 4-3) has three more NWOC games. The Eagles start against La Salle Prep at home on May 5 at 5 p.m., then face Canby at home on May 6 at 5 p.m. and finish the week on the road at Canby at 5 p.m. on May 8.
