Rep. Mark Johnson (R-Hood River) will host a forum next Wednesday to discuss Oregon’s current energy policies and priorities.
Panelists will present information on Oregon’s ongoing efforts to increase renewable energy and conservation, long-term programs to affect carbon output, and upcoming state level and federal policies that will impact energy consumption.
Rep. Johnson has served as Vice-Chair of the Energy and Environment Committee for two legislative sessions. Other legislators will attend the forum as well.
“As Vice-Chair of the Energy and Environment Committee, I have seen the increase in legislation attempting to reduce carbon in our state,” said Johnson.
“I invited the panelists because they are experts in the energy field, can provide a broad point of view about the past and the future, and are prepared to answer questions attendants may have.”
Pacific General Electric, Pacific Power, Oregon Rural Electrical Cooperative, Northwest Natural Gas and the Energy Trust of Oregon represent some of the key stakeholders establishing and affecting energy policies in Oregon.
The forum will be held Wednesday, Sept. 16., from 4 p.m. to 5:30 at Columbia Gorge Community College Indian Creek Campus, Classroom 310, in Hood River.
