Trout Lake rebounded from its first Greater Columbia B League loss of the season on Friday by defeating Klickitat, 53-42, on the road.
The Mustangs overcame a 12-10 first-quarter deficit with a 20-point second quarter that gave them a 30-25 halftime advantage.
Trout Lake secured its fourth GCB win by outscoring Klickitat, 23-17, in the second half.
Junior Matt Dearden's 15 points paced the Mustangs, who also got 10 apiece from seniors Mike Hansen and Roy Browning.
Klickitat sophomore J.J. Keys led all scorers with 23 points.
Junior James Brewer contributed nine rebounds and five blocks in the losing effort.
At Lyle 49, Glenwood 46 --
The Cougars overcame an 11-point haltime deficit with solid efforts at both ends of the court in the second half last Saturday's to hand the Eagles their third straight loss.
Lyle outscored Glenwood, 30-16, during the final two quarters.
Junior Kalvin Kernan led the Cougars with 11 points and seven rebounds, and senior Justin Carlson played a solid all-around game, finishing with nine points, nine steals, five assists and four blocks.
Glenwood junior Mitch Wheelhouse led everybody with 15 points and 15 rebounds. The Eagles, who hurt themselves by turning the ball over 30 times, also got 13 points from sophomore Justin Holly and 10 from junior Tony Leiter.
The Eagles had the early lead, pulling ahead, 13-12, after one quarter. They increased that to 30-19 by halftime.
Lyle narrowed Glenwood's lead to 38-35 at the end of the third quarter and went in front to stay in the fourth.
Mabton 70, at Glenwood 67 --
The Vikings held on to defeat the Eagles in GCB action last Friday.
Juniors Tony Leiters (18), Mitch Wheelhouse (18) and Tanner Beeks (16) combined for 52 points in the losing effort.
Mabton took a 16-12 lead in the first quarter and led 36-31 at the half. The score after three quarters was 54-48, Vikings.
Yet, despite committing 39 turnovers, Glenwood had two chances in the final 15 seconds of play to tie the game. But sophomore Justin Holly missed twice from 3-point land as Mabton escaped with the win.
Yakama Tribal 77, at Klickitat 40 --
The Eagles' Derek and Daniel Payer combined for 40 points in last Friday's victory over the Vandals.
Sophomore J.J. Keys put in 16 points for Klickitat, which trailed, 21-10, after one quarter and, 39-23, at halftime.
At Sunnyside Christian 54, Trout Lake 43 --
The Knights won their first GCB game last Friday and, in the process, ended the Mustangs' six-game winning streak.
Trout Lake trailed at every break in play (10-9, 27-17, 41-28) in losing for the first time since Dec. 12.
Senior Roy Browning scored 12 points and junior Ben Steward had 10 for the Mustangs.
Riverside Christian 94, at Lyle 32 --
The unbeaten Crusaders scored 21 or more points in every quarter last Friday in handing the Cougars their worst loss of the season.
Riverside mounted a 21-6 charge in the first quarter and followed that with a 27-8 outbreak in the second.
Lyle, which was led by junior Callan Johnson and sophomore Martin Grace (8 points each), only scored in double digits in one quarter (10 in the fourth).
At Trout Lake 59, Glenwood 57 --
The Mustangs held off the Eagles in the fourth quarter Jan. 13 to win the non-league contest and their sixth in a row.
Glenwood had the lead after one quarter (18-14) and at halftime (28-24) but couldn't restrain Trout Lake in the third period.
The Mustangs charged into a 41-34 lead by outscoring the Eagles, 17-6.
Glenwood rallied in the final stanza, but its bid for the come-from-behind victory fell short.
For Trout Lake, all five starters scored in double figures. Senior Mike Hansen (four steals) and junior Kris Huffsmith (five assists) each bagged 12 points to pave the way.
Senior Roy Browning added 11 points and a team-high six rebunds, and juniors Matt Dearden and Ben Steward each chipped in 10 points.
Glenwood junior Mitch Wheelhouse led everybody with 18 points and 15 rebounds.
His main support came from classmates Tanner Beeks, Tony Leiter and Trent Steinbach. They scored 17, 12 and eight points respectively.
