Tarwater Tavern serving up prohibition era cocktails, late night entertainment

Surrounded by a large crowd, Tarwater Tavern owner Nick Baldridge cuts the official Mt. Adams Chamber ribbon during the pub’s grand opening Friday night. Tarwater is open seven days a week, starting at 5 p.m. It serves a wide selection of regional beers, wines, and alcohol.

Tarwater Tavern, located in downtown White Salmon, is now officially open.

Named after the medieval cure-all “Tarwater,” which later became a common slang for liquor and/or adult beverages in the civil war era, Tarwater Tavern serves specialty cocktails reminiscent of the prohibition era when the term became popular again.
