The Glenwood Rodeo Association invites you to participate in the 11th annual Fun Prize Ride on Sunday, Sept. 29. This is always such a nice ride as you follow trails surrounded by autumn’s beautiful colors! First horse goes out at 10 a.m. – last horse out at by noon. Whether you ride or not…come on by the rodeo grounds for a BBQ lunch including burgers or Kielbasas, beans, dessert and a beverage for only $6! As of Monday morning, the extended weather forecast was calling for rain to start in Portland mid-Sunday. Hopefully we’ll get by without precipitation until the ride is over! The rodeo association members will hold a work day to winterize the grounds; and a short business meeting also on the 29.
Please note Bingo will not be played on Friday, Oct. 4, due to a scheduled rental of the Grange that weekend. The Glenwood Women’s Club will continue to host Pinochle at the Grange on Friday’s at 7 p.m. other than the first week of each month. Bingo will resume on Nov. 1 at the grange beginning at 7 p.m. Where else can you get an evening of entertainment including snacks for only $2?
Glenwood Grange #94 continues to work on the building repair and remodel fund. Over the past year, the floor near the rear exit door was repaired and a roof and railing were added to that exit for safety and weather protection. Cupboards were constructed in the foyer to allow for more and secure storage of supplies. The next big job will be painting and rock trim on the exterior of the building to prevent snow damage. To that end…the grange will be hosting a 50/50 raffle beginning at the Fall Bazaar on Nov. 2 and continuing until Valentine’s Day. The 50/50 pot will start with $100! Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20; and can be purchased from any grange member. For more information, please contact Mary Pierce, Lois Dechand, Carole Sturgeon, Linda Williams or Ginger Burton. The grange appreciates the community support in helping to maintain the hall as a local gathering place.
Pioneer Memorial Community youth are preparing for a breakfast fundraiser on Sept. 28 from 8 to 10 a.m. at the church. Breakfast items include pancakes, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs and sausage. Donations will help send the youth to Winter Camp and other outings. Makes me hungry just thinking about it!
The Fall Bazaar is rapidly approaching. The event is scheduled for Nov. 2 from 9 a.m. through 3 p.m. at the school. Have you reserved you booth yet? Contact Jennifer Hallenbeck at 364-3517 for reservations or questions.
