The 2015 softball season for Columbia High began last week with a three-game 1A Trico League series versus Castle Rock.
Columbia opened with a pair of mercy-rule losses in double-header action at Cas-tle Rock.
The Bruins mustered two hits and struck out five times in losing the first game, 12-1, in five innings.
In the second game, CHS got no-hit and lost 14-0 in five innings.
Columbia High pitchers allowed eight hits in each game.
Last Thursday, the Rockets came to White Salmon to finish off their three-game series with the Bruins.
Castle Rock made it a sweep of the season series with an 11-1 victory in five innings.
Bruins statistics for the three-game series were unavailable at this week’s press deadline.
Coming up: The Bruins (0-3 in Trico and overall) started a three-game series with La Center there on Tuesday. The series wraps up here on Friday with a single game at Bruin Ballpark that starts at 4 p.m.
On Saturday, the Bruins play their first non-league game of the season. They will be hosting the Riverside Pirates of Boardman, Ore., for a single game at Bruin Ballpark. Start time is noon.
