While the WIAA state football playoffs won’t be over until next weekend, athletes at most schools around the state of Washington already have turned their attention to their favorite winter sport, be it basketball, wrestling, or gymnastics.
Here in Klickitat County, wrestling and basketball seasons begin next Monday, Nov. 30. CHS wrestling will host the Take Down Jamboree in Miller Gym, starting at 5 p.m.
Downriver, the CHS boys and girls basketball teams will be in action at a jamboree hosted by Stevenson. Start time there is also 5 p.m.
On Tuesday, Dec. 1, CHS girls basketball will play its first full game at home, against Fort Vancouver. A jayvee game at 5:45 p.m. will precede the varsity contest.
The next night the CHS girls jayvee and varsity will entertain Riverside High of Boardman, Ore., in Miller Gym. Start times will be the same as noted above.
CHS wrestling and boys basketball will both be away on Wednesday, Dec. 2, for the start of full-time action.
CHS wrestling will be attending a meet in Hood River (start time is set for 5 p.m.), while CHS boys basketball will be heading upriver to Boardman, Ore., for a jayvee-varsity double-header with Riverside High. (Games will be played at 5:45 and 7 p.m.)
Also next Wednesday, Dec. 3, Klickitat will be holding its annual basketball jamboree. Tip off of the first match-up is set for 5 p.m. Other contestants will include the boys and girls teams from Lyle/Wishram.
All in all, with multiple middle school and high school wrestling meets and basketball games on the schedules, it’s going to be a very busy December for players, coaches, and officials alike.
Below you will find December wrestling and/or basketball schedules for teams from White Salmon, Glenwood, Klickitat, Lyle/Wishram, and Trout Lake.
