“I was happy with our defensive effort, doing a pretty good job of taking away the drive in the first half and showing some defensive fundamentals,” Blevins said. “That’s something we’ve been working on and I’m proud of the players. We blocked out much better as well.”

Before Lloyd, Blake and Fields could make their efforts known, the Huskies broke open an 11-6 lead after one quarter with a 14-4 run in the second period to swell the lead out to 25-10 at the break.

Sherman then came out of the locker room and kept the pace against the Pirates using a 15-10 spurt to make it 40-20 entering the fourth quarter.

In the finale, Sherman capped a solid all-around performance with a 16-10 rally to provide the 26-point difference.

Through 32 minutes, the Huskies made 22 field goals, three from long range and added a 9 for 13 output from the free throw line.

Austin Kaseberg paced the offense with 15 points, and Isaiah Coles chipped in 14 to the scorebook.

Kyle Fields and Jacob Justesen notched six points each, and Max Martin dropped in five points to round out the statistical leaders.

After missing the first eight games of the season, Blevins is seeing Kaseberg steadily progress on the hardwood, especially down on the blocks.

“Austin did a nice job of getting into the low post and taking advantage of his size,” Blevins said.

In having eight different players scoring, Blevins likes the current trend of making extra passes for easier scoring chances.

“We played very unselfish and worked the ball around to get everyone involved in the offense,” the Husky coach said.

Sherman (10-3 overall, 4-2 Big Sky Conference) puts its five-game home winning streak on the line with a date at 7:30 p.m. Friday versus Condon (3-10, 0-4).
