THE DALLES — The Dalles High School’s softball team (10-2 Tri-Valley Conference, 11-9 overall) won three games last week and was scheduled to play a key game against Gladstone (11-1 TVC, 13-8 overall) on May 12.
The Riverhawks, winners of their past seven games as of May 11, are on a roll with two weeks left in the regular season.
AizLynn Rubio and the Riverhawks made light work of Madras (1-11, 3-17) on May 5, winning 15-2. Rubio led ten Riverhawks who recorded hits by going 2-for-2 at the plate with two RBIs and a walk. Morgan Donivan and Siyra Faulkner both recorded three RBI.
The Dalles earned a 7-3 road win against Crook County (6-6, 11-10) on May 7. Rubio again had two RBIs on two hits. Ava Graves earned four walks and Edie May recorded two stolen bases.
Returning home on May 8, it only took The Dalles five innings to win 11-1 over Madras. Freshman Bryce Newby was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Other Riverhawks recording hits included May (3-for-3, two RBIs), Graves (2-for-4, three RBIs), Maddie Brock (1-for-2, two RBIs) and Hailey Johnston (2-for-3, three runs scored, RBI).
The Dalles is ranked No. 14 in OSAA Class 4A and has three games on the docket this week: May 12 at Gladstone, May 14 at Estacada (6-6, 14-9) and May 16 at home vs. Molalla (2-10, 7-13). The Dalles will finish their regular season in a nonleague game at Dallas High on May 22. Rankings freeze on May 19 and the first round of the Class 4A state playoffs begins May 27.
