THE DALLES — Host The Dalles High capped its Tri-Valley Conference 10-game volleyball schedule with a 3-0 senior night win over visiting Molalla on Oct. 22.
The No. 6-ranked Riverhawks (9-1 TVC, 16-6 overall) were led by freshman outside hitter Jazzy Morris-Holmes with 12 kills. Seniors Laci Hoylman (seven kills), Chrissy Geary (four kills), Maddie Brock (21 assists) and junior Caitlynn Gatton (11 aces) helped lead the Riverhawks to the victory.
The Riverhawks tied with TVC champion and No. 3-ranked Crook County (9-1 TVC, 22-6 overall) for first place in the six-team standings. The two-time TVC champion Cowgirls won the league title by virtue of their higher OSAA ranking.
“We’re sitting in a pretty good position, but I’m unsure of our playoff schedule at this point. We’re hoping to have a home playoff game on Saturday. I think we should have a home game, but it all depends on what happens in Tuesday’s play-in round games and what the rankings are of the teams that win," The Dalles Coach Teresa Morris said.
The Riverhawks qualified for the 16-team state playoffs for a third straight year. The playoff pairings don’t become finalized until after the Oct. 29 eight-team play-in round.
The Riverhawks have won four of their past five contests and will play a state playoff match Nov. 2. Winners of those eight matches advance to the eight-team state tournament quarterfinals Nov. 8-9 at North Bend High School. The Riverhawks are seeking to reach the quarterfinals for a second straight season.
