Hustlers go 2-2 at Oregon Legion A state tournament

THE GORGE — The Columbia Gorge Hustlers completed their season with a 2-2 record at the 2026 American Legion A Oregon State Tournament in Coos Bay from July 23-26.

The Hustlers beat North Coos Waterfront 2-1 on July 22, lost 8-2 to Eugene’s Ole Athletics 18U on July 23, beat the Everett Street Mechanics A 4-0 in an elimination game on July 24, and then lost 4-3 to the Klamath Falls Falcons to close out the tournament in an elimination game.

The Hustlers, led by Coach Pat Clark, started tournament play with a close win over North Coos. From the plate, the Gorge finished with four hits as a team. Hood River’s Bodie Stuben went 1-for-1 with an RBI and was walked twice; The Dalles’ Daylee Miller went 1-for-1 and was walked once; The Dalles’ Kale Beardmore went 1-for-3 and scored a run, and Hood River’s Trevor Jacobs also went 1-for-3 and scored a run. The Dalles/Dufur’s Chase Peterson executed a safety squeeze bunt, which brought in Jacobs to score the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Hood River’s Landen Pratt got the start on the mound for the Gorge. Pratt pitched four innings with nine strikeouts and gave up three hits and no runs. The Dalles’ Gunner Bustos stepped in for 2 and 1/3 innings and gave up four hits and a run. White Salmon’s Ryder Graves closed out the game for the Gorge.

In round two against Eugene’s Ole 18U, the Hustlers finished with five hits as a team. Stuben went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored, and Peterson went 2-for-3.

Stuben also got the start on the mound and went for four innings with three strikeouts and gave up four hits and five runs. The Dalles’ Hunter Kelley stepped in for two innings, allowing one hit and one run. Miller and The Dalles’ Sawyer Case combined to finish the game on the mound for the Hustlers.

Against Everett, the Hustlers outhit the Mechanics, 7-4. The Gorge team was led by Stuben, who went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored and Hood River’s Kingston McAdam, who went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Pratt also went 1-for-3 with a run scored, Peterson went 1-for-2 with two runs scored and Hood River’s Jake Patricelli went 1-for-2 with an RBI.

Bustos got the start on the mound and pitched six innings with five strikeouts and gave up four hits and no runs. Peterson stepped in to close late, giving up no hits and no runs.

Klamath Falls outhit the Hustlers, 7-4, in a close loss to end the state tournament. The Hustlers had a three-run sixth inning, but the Falcons rallied in the bottom of the seventh, with a four-run explosion to win the game.
