Eagles swimmers have had a heck of a time getting in competitions lately because of persistent winter storms, but were able to travel to their first competition of the new year last weekend with the White Buffalo Classic in Madras.
The girls ruled the pool with 109 points — well in front of second-place Pendleton (77 points). The Eagles also defeated The Dalles (39), Sisters (39), Madras (22), Ridgeview (15), and Hermiston (5).
The boys placed fifth of seven teams, but were more competitive than their finish suggests, especially having such a small roster. Scoring 45 points, the Eagles were well ahead of The Dalles (15) and Sisters, and were right behind fourth-place Ridgeview (46), and third-place Madras (51). Columbia River Conference rivals Pendleton and Hermiston tied for first place with 70 points.
HRV is hoping it will be able to host what would be the team’s first home multi-school meet Saturday morning with the Hood River Invite — weather-dependent, of course.
