MADRAS — It was a year of transition for South Wasco County, as Carly Johnson took the post as the girls basketball program’s new head coach. Friday and Saturday, No. 9-ranked SWC picked up back-to-back wins over Dufur (50-29) and Echo (44-41) to score a second straight district championship in Big Sky Conference basketball play at the Buffalo Dome in Madras.
Eagles swimmers have had a heck of a time getting in competitions lately because of persistent winter storms, but were able to travel to their first competition of the new year last weekend with the White Buffalo Classic in Madras.
