Mark Edward Klein, 72, passed away December 13, 2025 at the Idaho State Veterans Home in Boise, Idaho. He was born February 23, 1953 to Irene Phillips Klein and Melvin E. Klein and was raised in the Hood River Valley.
Mark is survived by his wife Deborah Pitkin, four sisters Chris (the late Conrad Nielsen) C-Ann (Dan Maciak) Kathryn Klein (Brad Fowler), Teresa (Robert Shark) and his brother in-law Greg Simurdak.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1971 to 1974. Unit was 7th Artillery Detail, USAREUR Service and was classified Top Secret, NATO secret clearance attached to special weapons. His assignment was with our NATO allies in Europe during the Vietnam conflict.
A trained survivalist, expert rifleman, experience hunter, tracker, bowhunter & trapper, he enjoyed bushcraft and primate survival arts. His favorite tools were recurve bow and wooden arrows.
He loved to read, write stories and poetry, play guitar and contemplate life and God.
Mark found his true calling as a journeyman carpenter & owned his own construction company excelling in all phases of construction including commercial, residential, remodeling and restoration.
He is lovingly remembered by nieces & nephews; Justin Cherrington, Jessica Cherrington Miller, Heidi Nielsen, Julie Nielsen, Mario Guisto, Kathryn Gidley, Tony Guisto, Kristoff Fowler, their spouses and their precious little ones.
A committal service with military honors will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday June 5th, 2026 at Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 10100 North Horseshoe Bend Road, Boise, Idaho.
