Hood River Valley is seeking its initial Northwest Oregon Conference girls basketball victory and the timing may be right for a Tuesday trip to Portland’s Parkrose High.

The No. 22-ranked Class 1A Horizon Christian High Hawks (1-0 Big Sky League, 6-2 overall) boys basketball team improved to 6-2 with a 60-16 non-league win over the Dayville/Monument High Tigers (1-8) Dec. 20 at Horizon Christian High School in Hood River.
Hood River Valley’s slim chances of qualifying for the Class 5A boys state soccer playoffs ended Oct. 27 at home, where the Eagles and Putnam played to a 1-1 tie in a Northwest Oregon Conference match.
The Dalles High Riverhawks boys soccer team nearly got its first Tri-Valley Conference win on the road Sept. 20 at Crook County before settling for a 2-2 tie.
Emily Teets of Hood River Valley posted the two fastest times in the girls giant slalom Mt. Hood League ski race Saturday at Mt. Hood Meadows.
Teets went 51.44 seconds on her first run and 50.21 on her second for a combined time of 1:41.65. That placed her six seconds better than runner-up Aspen Hand of St. Mary’s Academy. Hood River Valley did not have two complete runs from at least three skiers and therefore did not post a team time.
