The defending Class 1A volleyball Big Sky League Champion South Wasco County High Redsides started their 13-game league schedule much like they have in recent years with an impressive four-game win streak.
The No. 3-ranked South Wasco County High Redsides (10-0 Big Sky League, 21-0 overall) earned a berth in the OSAA Class 1A boys basketball state playoffs following 56-49 Big Sky League District semifinal win over the No. 13 ranked Condon High Blue Devils (6-3 league, 14-6) Wednesday at South Wasco High School in Maupin.
The Class 1A boys basketball season concluded for the Dufur High Rangers and the Horizon Christian High Hawks, who both lost Big Sky League, first round, district playoff games Monday.
The No. 8-ranked Trout Lake High Mustangs earned the West Division’s No. 1 seed into the Class 1A girls basketball Big Sky League District playoffs with a, 55-46, road win Saturday at Dufur.
Following what’s known as a COVID pause in the Class 1A basketball schedule due to safety related health and protocol issues at local high schools, all Gorge area boys and girls teams will return to the gyms to resume competition for the first time in over two weeks starting Feb. 4.
The Big Sky regular season concludes Feb. 12 which will be followed by district playoffs.
The No. 14 ranked South Wasco County High Redsides continue to be the top contender in the Class 1A volleyball Big Sky League following a 3-2 win over the Dufur High Rangers in a first-place showdown Sept. 24 at Dufur High School.
