To the editor:
While attending The Dalles Rodeo, I wore my favorite The Dalles Lion’s Club baseball cap. I have many hats, but this one I will choose before even my University of Oregon hat. Sometime after the National Anthem, I noticed my hat was missing. I desperately retraced my steps but could not find it. I checked on the way out at the gate for any lost and found items that may include my lost white cap with the lion’s logo. No luck.
Today, as I was entering the regular meeting of The Dalles Lion’s Club, a woman was standing at the door to our meeting room holding a white baseball cap. She explained that Boy Scouts had found it and gave it to her … probably a mom of a scout working at the rodeo. She took it home and washed it. Yes, being my favorite hat, it was pretty soiled.
She washed and then took the time to return it in person. Once she placed the cap in my hand, she quickly turned after I thanked her and she departed without giving me her name.
Now say what you will about The Dalles, this is an example of why I love living in this community. Good honest people who care. May good Karma follow in your footsteps. Thank you.
