The Dalles — Out of order
To the editor:
While on my way to work Friday I passed by the post office and observed a small group of people seemingly protesting the president. One of the pictures of the president had a Hitler-style mustache drawn on his face. I suppose this is to illustrate the comparisons between the evil dictator Adolf Hitler and President Obama.
I am no supporter of the president, he never had my vote nor do I agree with his policies, but as a sailor in the US Navy and as a citizen of this country I say shame on you to the people protesting in this way. I was disgusted and angered.
If the president is Hitler then those of us serving are Gestapo and Storm Troopers? If I believed for a second that the president was behaving as Hitler I would not serve him or this country.
I find these protesters offensive, and as a conservative from the community who has been active in politics I can say that these protesters are what is wrong with our country. They will do anything to make a point.
Comparing the president to the Nazi regime of terror and genocide because he does things you disagree with is out of order and speaks ill of the fools who know nothing of history.
Who do they think they are influencing? Do they honestly feel that someone will drive by and say look at a picture of Obama as Hitler; I should not support him because of that sign? More likely, the protesters simply want to anger people who disagree with their view. As a side effect they have now lost my support for them when I previously was sympathetic.
