Letter to the editor: Key helpers

A key component in the success of many of our students so far has been their ability to go into our new shop and take their research and writing and apply it in the form of constructed projects. These projects all must tie state and national standards into an end result that benefits our community.

Speaking of community, our staff and students would like to send out a huge thank you to Dean Roderick of East Cascade Electric, and David Hovde of Platt Electric Supply, both of The Dalles. Through their generous donations of time and materials, we now have a shop that has adequate power.

Without the shop to help students make abstract ideas concrete, I feel that some would not make it through school. At the same time, the giving by these two individuals has served as a catalyst for improving our community, as our students will now go on to build projects that will improve life for all of us. Thank you gentlemen!
