WS district considering naming school after late Wally Stevenson

The White Salmon Valley School District Board of Directors is considering renaming the White Salmon Valley Intermediate School in honor of late resident, Wallace “Wally” Stevenson. The board is seeking written public comment, which can be submitted to the district office at PO Box 157, White Salmon, WA 98672 by Oct. 17. The board will decide whether or not to rename the school at the regular meeting on Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. in the Columbia High School library.

The latest addition to the White Salmon Valley School District might be getting a new name in honor of late, longtime resident Wallace “Wally” Stevenson.

Last year, the White Salmon Valley School District Board of Directors voted to establish an intermediate school that now houses fourth-, fifth-, and sixth-grades. Previously, the district’s fourth-graders attended Whitson Elementary School, which needed additional classroom space, prompting the move.
