The first 75 survey respondents who optionally provide their email get a $10 Amazon gift card and are entered in a drawing for two JBL speakers. A link to the survey is available at bit.ly/WascoCountyNHMP, or scan the QR code at right.
The survey will gauge the community’s disaster preparedness level and measure the extent of public knowledge about the natural hazards that might impact this area.
Survey questions include asking what kinds of steps people have taken to prepare for disaster, and what hazards concern them the most.
The goal is to create a safer, better-prepared community in the face of potential natural disasters.
The “Disaster Movie Marathon,” is a fun way to solicit more survey respondents and offer an opportunity to discuss hazard mitigation with the community.
The Disaster Movie Marathon, at Columbia Cinemas, 2727 W. Seventh St., The Dalles, includes free entry, free snacks, and giveaways. The day-long series of 10 popular disaster movies includes spoofs, real-life events, and fictional catastrophes.
