THE GORGE — United Way of the Columbia Gorge (UWCG) has opened its annual grant application process as of Jan. 26. Applications will be accepted through Feb. 26, and eligible organizations are encouraged to apply.
United Way of the Columbia Gorge provides funding to nonprofit organizations and programs that address basic human needs and strengthen communities across the Columbia Gorge region.
“Each year, we are inspired by the dedication and impact of local organizations serving our communities,” said United Way of the Columbia Gorg Executive Director Caroline Grew. “These grants help ensure that critical services, such as food access, housing support, and youth programs continue to reach those who need them most across the Gorge.”
Eligibility for funding
To be eligible, applicants must:
• Be a 501(c)(3) human service agency or program
• Have provided services addressing basic human needs for at least two years by the application deadline
• Serve residents in one or more of the following counties: Hood River, Klickitat, Skamania, Wasco, and Sherman
Organizations and programs UWCG funds
United Way of the Columbia Gorge supports:
• 501(c)(3) organizations located within its service region (Skamania and Klickitat counties in Washington; Hood River, Wasco, and Sherman counties in Oregon)
• Programs addressing basic human needs, including food access, shelter, emotional health, and physical health
• Community improvement efforts, such as youth outreach and educational programs
Organizations UWCG does not fund
UWCG does not provide funding for:
• Government agencies
• Political parties, campaigns, or organizations focused on influencing legislation
• Capital campaigns or large-scale construction projects
• Religious events or organizations with a purely denominational purpose
• Pro-choice or pro-life organizations
• Organized sports teams
