Lunch is served Monday through Friday at the Hood River Valley Adult Center, located at 2010 Sterling Place, from noon to 1 p.m. There is a suggested donation of $5, and the daily menu can be found on the center’s website at www.hoodriverseniorcenter.org. All are welcome.
Meals on Wheels are served Monday through Friday around the valley, with freezer meals available for weekends. Call the center at 541-386-2060 for more information.

Health equipment is available on loan, free to the public, as-is at the center. Walkers, wheelchairs, crutches, bath benches and toilet seats are some of the items available; inventory changes daily.

Thrift shop volunteers are needed to help sort through donations and get them out on the sales floor. Cashiers are also needed on an on-call basis. The store is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. To volunteer, call 541-436-0891.

Reservations will be taken until Feb. 16 for the upcoming Cirque du Soleil Crystal trip April 5. Cost is $150 and includes cost of the show, transportation and dinner. Space is limited. Call the center (541-386-2060) or stop by to reserve a spot.

The second annual Mardi Gras celebration takes place Saturday, Feb. 24. Tickets are $20 presale and $25 at the door, and includes a New Orleans-style buffet dinner — including a crawfish boil —an assortment of southern desserts, no host bar, entertainment and a silent auction. Visa and Mastercard are accepted.
This is the center’s largest fundraiser of the year, with proceeds benefiting the Meals on Wheels program. Silent auction items are currently being collected. Sponsorships are also available. Food prep and decoration volunteers are also being sought. Call the number above, or stop by the center for more information or to purchase tickets.
