CASCADE LOCKS — Turn back the clock at the Gorge Pavilion on Oct. 18 for a radiant night of rhythm and dance. The Jazz Collective Big Band will present “Saturday Night Fever,” featuring an 18-piece ensemble, transporting audiences to an era where infectious grooves and sophisticated arrangements made every Saturday night a celebration.
Known as “the Columbia Gorge’s Best Kept secret,” The Jazz Collective is part of the Columbia Gorge Orchestra Association (CGOA), based in Hood River. CGOA is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and presenting musical performances of the highest quality in the Gorge region.
“Get ready to light up your autumn with an unforgettable night of music and dancing,” said Michael Paul, Jazz Collective Director. “Saturday Night Swing Fever brings the celebrated Jazz Collective to the stage for an evening brimming with high-energy rhythms, dazzling solos, and the timeless spirit of big band swing.”
The band will perform beloved jazz cuts that defined the swing era, including “A String of Pearls,” Glenn Miller’s iconic “In the Mood,” “Little Brown Jug,” Duke Ellington’s “Take the ‘A’ Train,” Count Basie’s “Cute,” the timeless “Mack the Knife,” “Splanky,” Stevie Wonder’s “Sir Duke,” “Adiós Muchachos,” and “Band Stand Boogie.”
The Gorge Pavilion’s stunning setting provides the perfect backdrop for an evening of musical joy in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge.
