THE DALLES — The CGOA Jazz Collective Big Band has performed in a wide range of venues around the Gorge, but now the ensemble can add “car dealership” to the list.
The Jazz Collective will perform the season’s final concert at Columbia Gorge Toyota and Honda, 1900 W 6th St in The Dalles. The free show starts at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 23.
There will be ample room for dancing. Refreshments will be available. The Jazz Collective plays a wide range of traditional contemporary big band music from the golden age of swing through to the present day.
There was interest in doing a summer show in The Dalles, but finding a suitable outdoor venue was a problem, according to Jazz Collective director Michael Paul. “We thought about performing on the CGCC campus or down at the river, but lack of wind protection and a stage meant those locations wouldn’t work,” he said.

Columbia Gorge Toyota and Honda has been the headline sponsor for CGOA this season, which included the Sinfonietta, Voci Choir, Jazz Collective and Stages theater productions.
