Central School District teacher arrested on child sex abuse related charges

The Independence Police Department is working closely with the Central School District, which had placed Imamura on administrative leave and is continuing its own investigation.

"Our priority is protecting children and seeking justice for victims," said Chief Juventino "Tino" Banuelos in a press release. "I want to commend our detectives and School Resource Officers for their professionalism and dedication throughout this investigation. We recognize how difficult cases like this are for those affected, and we remain committed to handling them with compassion and care."

The Central School District confirmed on its Facebook page that Imamura has been placed on administrative leave and that the district is continuing an independent investigation.

“The top priority of the district is the safety and welfare of our students,” district officials wrote. “The school district leadership is working closely with law enforcement.”
