Hood River Sheriff, July 1 - 31
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: Assault (three), charge not logged (one), DUII (seven), harassment (one), menacing (one), probation violation (one), reckless driving (three), reckless endangering (one), theft (three), unlawful entry into motor vehicle (two), warrant (two).
Notable incidents
Three identity theft reports, from July 2, July 3 and July 16.
Two vehicle crashes with injuries. A three-car collision took place in Parkdale at Lost Lake. The other location was Wyeth Road.
Seven search and rescues. A SAR was called for someone who fell crossing a steep snowfield near Mt. Hood Meadows, suffering minimal injuries on July 3. Another for Eagle Creek Falls. Another, for a person fell from an old chute while climbing toward the top of Mount Hood. Another, for a 20-year-old suffering heat exhaustion near Eagle Creek Loop. Pacific Northwest Search and Rescue and Crag Rats responded and helped the person without further problems. Another found and escorted two people lost near Ruckel Ridge. Another responded to a missing person report. A seventh, found and returned a possible injured hiker with medical problems on trail 414 B to Starvation Creek trailhead.
A felony hit-and-run was reported at WaNaPa and Lakeside Road, Cascade Locks. A responding deputy found the collision was intentional.
Three unattended deaths, one at Country Club Road, one somewhere in Hood River County and another near the Family Man Staging Area.
Six non-injury two-vehicle crashes. In one incident, a car rolled near Highway 281 and Highway 282. In another, two vehicles crashed at Highway 25 and Davis Drive. Other locations were Tucker Road (two crashes) and the Highway 35/Highway 282 intersection.
Two burglaries. A 1996 Toyota Tacoma, Honda generator, Stihl chainsaw and Stihl leaf blower were stolen from a garage. Another was a cold burglary at Barrett Drive.
Twelve thefts. Cold theft from Herman Creek Trail, mail, money from a Walmart debit card, mail theft, theft from vehicle on Thompson Road, equipment near Bridge of the Gods trailhead, stolen vehicle, wallet (two incidents). In one incident, a caller said an unknown person left a garage sale on their property without paying for items, theft from the 1700 block of 12th Street. An officer located the suspect, recovered the property and issued a citation.
Three hit-and-runs. Stave and Stone Vineyard, online report, Cramblett Way.
A DUII crash was reported July 13.
An aggravated assault was reported July 15, after two people had an altercation that injured one.
A deputy took fire firearms into custody at their owners’ request.
A person assaulted their friend and took the friend’s vehicle on July 20. The case was closed by arrest.
A person was arrested for DUII, reckless driving, unlawful entry into motor vehicle and two counts of theft on July 23.
Hood River Police, July 28 - Aug. 3
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: Criminal mischief (one), disorderly conduct (one), DUII (four), harassment (one), hit and run (one), reckless driving (three), reckless endangering (one), restraining order violation (one), sexual penetration with object (one), theft (one), trespass (three).
Notable incidents
Four DUII arrests. In one incident, a Hood River resident collided with a parked vehicle. Officers noted the resident exhibited signs of impairment, and took them into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. The resident later gave a blood alcohol level of more than twice the legal limit.
Three theft reports. Stolen e-bike and cargo trailer, gasoline from a vehicle, and tools from a truck parked overnight at a hotel lot.
Three trespass arrests. In one incident, two Hood River residents were cited and released.
Officers arrested and lodged a male at NORCOR on charge of sexual penetration with an object.
Officers arrested and lodged a Hood River resident at NORCOR on charges of reckless driving, failing to perform duties of a driver, disorderly conduct, reckless endangering and criminal mischief.
A Hood River County resident fell victim to a scam where a caller stated they were from the sheriff’s office and held a warrant for the victim’s arrest. The victim traveled to a local store while on the phone with the scam caller, and completed a transaction to give the caller money onto an unknown gift card.
Officers detained a person for a local warrant. However, the warrant was found to be in need of recall from the district attorney’s office. It was recalled by a local judged and the person released.
Two vehicle crashes. A moving vehicle struck a parked vehicle on the north side of Oak Street, near Fifth. In another incident, two vehicles crashed on 13th and Taylor, causing no injuries.
A pickup caught fire on July 28, near Button Bridge. The case was non-criminal.
A burglary report was taken at a Marian Street residence.
A truck hit, and downed, a Hood River phone line on Aug. 1.
The Dalles Police, Aug. 2 - 9
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: DUII (one), interfering (one), resisting arrest (one), theft (two), trespass (two), violation of release agreement (two), warrant (four).
Notable incidents
Twenty-two animal calls. Wandering cat, follow-up for dog, welfare checks on dogs, lost dogs, barking dogs, dogs at large. A caller with a bat on their outside wall was referred to ODFW. Another found four 10-week-old kittens dumped on their River Road property, and was referred to Oregon Humane Society or Sally’s Cat Fund. In another incident, a decomposing animal in a trash bag was found on Chenowith Loop. In another incident, a goat got tangled up in a ladder at back of a yard. The goat was home alone, unable to reach water or get untangled. A responsible party was contacted to free it.
A deer caught in a Walnut Street fence was forwarded to animal control.
A missing person report was taken on Seventh Street Aug. 2.
An overdose was reported on Second Street Aug. 2. Another possible overdose was reported Aug. 4 on West Ninth and Jordan.
A vehicle crash report. A postal service vehicle and a car crashed on Second, resulting in damage to government property and a report.
Six theft reports. Stereo from broken-down vehicle on Sixth, vehicle containing loaded Ruger firearm in glove box stolen on Sixth and Washington, items from stores (four).
A caller at Fourth and Federal reported human feces on a bench.

Two hit-and-run reports.
Personnel at a construction site on River Road/Klindt’s Drive found three buried items, with wires sticking out of them. Traffic was shut down while a bomb squad investigated.
A reporting party stated an older Honda Accord and red Execra tried to ram each other in a Sixth Street parking lot, and a shot was fired. Both vehicles were gone before law enforcement arrived. Officers found a shell casing nearby. No license numbers or video were found.
A burglary report. A Seventh-Street storage unit was broken into and “appears to be completely ransacked” in photos.
An unknown person, or persons, broke into the water main connection on a Sixth-Street building, flooding the inside of a restaurant.
A fraud report. A bank account was accessed.
Wasco County Sheriff, Aug. 2 - 9
Notable incidents

Notable incidents
Two non-injury crashes. In one incident, an eastbound gray Ford F150 tried to pass a red Kenworth car hauler on I-84, near milepost 123. The Kenworth didn’t see the Ford coming, and changed lanes to pass a vehicle. It hit the Ford, deflating a tire and causing minor damage, and pushed it into the center divider. The Ford was towed. In another, an eastbound black GMC Yukon hit a deer on I-84, near milepost 122. The disabled vehicle was towed.
Crestline Construction reported some possible unexploded explosives on a construction site. Troopers responded and cleared the site.
The death of a buck deer, shot in the left shoulder and found dead near Boyd Loop Road, is being investigated. The reporting party found the buck in their field on Aug. 6 and responding trooper noted it seemed to have died several days before.
A black motorcycle was stopped for no license plate in I-84 near milepost 65 westbound. It stopped, then took off. OSP did not pursue. No further information was available.
