Fifth-year initiative surpasses $140,000 in total funding awarded to 21 local businesses, nonprofits, and community projects
HOOD RIVER — Visit Hood River has awarded $40,000 in matching funds to six local organizations through its annual Community Investment Grant Program, marking the largest funding distribution in the program’s five-year history. Now in its fifth year, the program is designed to support small businesses and promote long-term economic vitality in the greater Hood River area by providing matching grants to projects that enhance, promote, and sustain Hood River as a vibrant destination, contributing to the community's growth and well-being.
Since its inception, the Community Investment Grant Program has awarded more than $140,000 to 21 local businesses, nonprofits, and community projects, helping bring new events, educational programs, infrastructure improvements, and placemaking initiatives to life throughout the greater Hood River area.
In response to both the quality and quantity of applications received this year, Visit Hood River increased total funding by 49% over 2025, awarding $40,000 across six projects. The increased participation and funding underscore the growing impact of the Community Investment Grant program and Visit Hood River’s ongoing commitment to supporting projects that strengthen the community.
The recipients of this year's Community Investment Grant Program funds are:
Art of Community ($5,000): Funds will support the BIG ART Outdoor Gallery for the 2026-2028 cycle.
Central Gorge Master Gardeners Association ($7,000): Funds will support the establishment of a new Outdoor Learning Center.
Columbia Gorge Orchestra Association ($4,000): Funds will support the development of a new website.
Columbia Land Trust ($10,000): Funds will support restoration of the Powerdale Catwalk.
Pear Bloom Farm ($10,000): Funds will support the creation of the Hood River Flower Trail.
Wylde, Wind & Water ($4,000): Funds will support free weekly community watersports programs and the Viento y Agua three-week camp for Hood River’s Migrant Education Students.
