Injury crash — A commercial vehicle overturned on Highway 97 in south Wasco, injuring the driver and spilling its load. The driver was hospitalized, the vehicle towed.
Non-injury crashes — OSP recorded two: One driver fell asleep and hit guardrail on I-84, milepost 90 eastbound Another tried to get around a hazard on I-84 near milepost 56 westbound, hit guardrail head-on and stopped facing the wrong way. The Dalles logged three crashes on Brewery Grade, E. Second and W. Sixth, plus three hit-and-runs. Sept. 7-13, Hood River police reported two non-injury crashes at Hood River Supply and Red Carpet Inn, plus a hit-and-run.
Driving drunk — In two separate incidents, after multiple driving complaints, troopers arrested drivers on I-84 with blood alcohol levels of 0.14% and 0.23%. Wasco deputies recorded a DUII on Dufur bypass/197. The Dalles added three DUII logs on E. Third, E. 19th and milepost 82. Sept. 7-13, Hood River police made five arrests; in one incident Sept. 7, a driver on I-84 gave a blood alcohol level almost triple the legal limit of 0.08%. In another incident, officers stopped a vehicle for speeding, following too close and failing to yield to an emergency vehicle. The driver refused a breath test and a warrant was obtained for a blood draw. The person was lodged on charges of DUII - alcohol.
Coho crime — Two juvenile anglers at Herman Creek were warned for keeping steelhead, not knowing the season had closed. Both steelhead seized for donation. Two other anglers got cited for keeping wild Coho salmon, which were also seized. Sept. 18, six anglers were cited for multiple violations in a closed area, six salmon seized.
Sex crimes — A charge of failure to register as sex offender following a change of residence was referred to the Hood River district attorney. Meanwhile Wasco County made five logs of domestic violence. Sept. 7-13, Hood River police reported unlawful dissemination of an intimate image between juveniles and a domestic violence incident.
Charges — Sept. 12-19, Oregon State police charged people with DUII (2), no contact order violation (1), reckless driving (2), warrant (3). Sept. 7-13, Hood River police charged people with DUII (5), endangering welfare of minor (1), elude (1), reckless driving (1), reckless endangering (1), restraining order violation (1), theft (1), warrant (2). Other agencies don’t log arrests but The Dalles logged seven warrant-related calls.
Dogged — The Dalles and Wasco County logged 32 dogs and three other critters.
Fraud — One log each from Wasco and The Dalles. Hood River reported renter fraud, with no suspect at this time.
Pursuits — Wasco deputies logged a pursuit on the E. Second I-84 overpass Sept. 15. The Dalles logged a pursuit at Mattress Firm Sept. 16.
Thefts — Wasco County added a stolen vehicle on Boyd Loop/Long Hollow roads. The Dalles added 11 thefts, including two on Mt. Hood Street. In Hood River, a person was cited and released at Walmart for third-degree theft charges Sept. 9.
Burglars — Wasco County logged two, on Highway 30 and Carroll Road. The Dalles added another two on Sept. 16, on Pleasant Court and Montana Street.
Seven — mental health calls from The Dalles.
Elude — Two arrests in Hood River involved eluding Sept. 7-13. Sept. 8, police arrested a person on charges of felony elude, multiple counts reckless endangering, one count of reckless driving and endangering the welfare of a minor.
Body — Richard Michael Robinson, 59, was logged into NORCOR on Sept. 17. Robinson is a “person of interest” regarding the discovery of the body of Meihong He in a U-Haul storage unit in The Dalles earlier this year. Robinson is charged with two counts fail to report as sex offender and second-degree abuse of a corpse.
