Injury crashes — Troopers last week reported a rollover on Hwy 97 caused minor injuries to a tired driver who hit an embankment. Nov. 21 in Hood River, a vehicle and person on foot did not yield right of way to a vehicle, and was struck, and injured.
Illegal brains — Fish and Wildlife troopers got a call about deer parts hanging in a Cascade Locks car port Nov. 21, and seized the brains and spinal cords for incineration, leaving the owner with a citation for taking the potentially disease-bearing tissue across state lines.
DUII arrests — Two by state troopers last week. In one, a speeding Chevy on I-84 hit a Ford near milepost 69 westbound on Nov. 21 and sped off. The driver was found, arrested, and charged with fail to perform duties of driver in collision with property damage, reckless driving, reckless endangering and DUII. Hood River police recorded three; a White Salmon resident was nabbed Nov. 19 with a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit. In the same incident, another White Salmon resident was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm.
Charges — Last week, OSP reported charges of DUII (2), hit & run (1), reckless driving (1), reckless endangering (1). Nov. 16-22, Hood River reported charge of DUII (three), firearms violations (1), theft (1), warrant (1). Nov. 10-23, Bingen-White Salmon police charged one person with DUII, one with driving suspended.
Other crashes — Wasco County logged five crashes Nov. 21-24, The Dalles another five, including two on W. Sixth, plus two hit-and-run allegations. Hood River recorded a non-injury crash and three hit-and-run reports; a child on a crosswalk was involved in a felony hit-and-run on Nov. 16.
Thefts — Wasco county reported three thefts. The Dalles logged ten. Nov. 16-22, Hood River reported two, ID theft and a four-wheeler and trailer from residence on Nov. 22; the four-wheeler was recovered by the owner at Exit 51 on I-84.
Stats — Wasco made one log of domestic violence. The Dalles made three of assault and three of domestic violence.
Weapons — Wasco deputies logged a weapons-related incident at White River Game Unit near Friend, Nov. 22. In Hood River, a gun was found “in blackberry bushes” Nov. 17 and secured for safekeeping.
Deaths — A Hood River officer responded to the unattended death of an elderly person Nov. 20.
In White Salmon-Bingen — Nov. 10-23, officers failed to find a reported dead deer, responded to barking dogs, could not find someone who called regarding assault, and logged a fraud call, besides citing a few people for violations. A hazmat team was called Nov. 19 for a faulty carbon dioxide alarm in White Salmon.
