Hello, my name is Anneliese Richardson, but everyone has always called me Ani. I am interning here at Columbia Gorge News with hopes to pursue journalism as a career and experience more of what it would look like to work in this field. I’ve recently turned 18, on Sept. 14, 2025, and am a high school senior at Hood River Valley High School.
I’ve been an avid writer and journalist since I was about 10, and have dozens of journals filled cover to cover with my deepest thoughts and most exciting experiences. I like to think of myself as a creative, active, and social individual, being an advanced aerialist, and spending lots of time with my family and friends.
I’ve grown up in the Gorge, and seen nearly every corner of it; living in, and growing up in Mosier, my parents working in The Dalles, and going to school in Hood River, I’d say I know this place pretty well. I have a lot of love for where we live, and am excited to document this beautiful community.
I am a big lover of books, especially mystery novels, and I think that’s part of why I’m drawn to journalism — the idea of being able to go explore, uncover truths, and bring those stories to the public is truly something I believe is magical.
Now reader, as you’re reading this introduction of mine, I’ll leave you with a fun fact about me, possibly the funnest fact about me. I am a triplet. On top of that, my siblings and I were born on my older brother’s birthday, so all four of us have the same birthday. That’s my go to fun fact for icebreakers, and really shocks people.
I hope to take my writing further with this internship, and extend my love for the Gorge through my journalism! Excited for what is to come!
