Congratulations to The Crew (JD Blackford, Ryan Hinkley and Fred Bergren who won the second round of the Monday night Industrial bowling league at Hood River’s Orchard Lanes.
In the decisive match for all the marbles last week, featuring the top two teams, The Crew thrashed Clear Cutters, 18-7. Court Barker was stellar for his Cutters trio with big 245, 242 games and a 644 series but it simply wasn’t enough. The Crew won the first game 733-705 for six points and they swept the second game 624-546 for seven more points. Clear Cutters won the third game 688-675 for six points. The Crew took total pins, 2032-1939 for an additional four points, giving The Crew the big 18-7 point win, vaulting them into first place, winning the second round with a total of 136 points. Decavo finished second with 128.5 points, The Rollers got third with 127.5 points, Hood River Supply took fourth with 126.5 points, Clear Cutters sank to fifth place with 125.5 points and Mt. Hood BBQ got sixth with 124 points.
With so many teams in the thick of things, it shows how well balanced the Industrial league is. That equates to more fun for more teams, helping to keep a high level of interest for everyone right up to the last ball!
Other match results from last week: Decavo waxed Randy’s Painting, 23-2; Hood River Supply trounced MTS, 22-3 thanks to the powerful high rev game of Aaron Troxel for Supply; OL’7-10 was wiped by Pat’s Pro Shop, 21-4; The Rollers beat Triple T’s, 18-7 as Paul Dethman crunched the sticks for Rollers, offsetting the sharp shooting by Jordan Trout for the T’s; and Mt. Hood BBQ beat Orchard Lanes, 18-7 behind the pocket pounding of Washington orchardist John Riggleman who was unfazed by big numbers from opponent Nancy Asai who is definitely in mid-season form, flashing her all-star game for the Lanes team.

Things are getting tense in the Fraternal league, look at the tight standings. Next week will feature regularly scheduled matches but the following week will be a position round. That’s when the first place team bowls the second place team, the third place team bowls the fourth place team and so on. Position rounds can change everything, they are pressure packed!
The feature match next week pits 2nd place Hood River Athletic Club against the not so crazy 3rd place Tres Psicos. It would really benefit one of these teams to bowl lights out since the current league leader, Mt. Hood BBQ has a big advantage next week because they bowl the last place team, The Red Rockets. These key matches are pretty even on paper, so it all boils down to who is hot and who is not.

Hood BBQ edged Bloom Auto Body, 13-12.
