Last week’s History Mystery (right) was taken just after noon on July 9, 1946. The photographer was looking down Fourth Street, Hood River.  What is the line of people waiting for?  We still don’t know. Perhaps they have returned from war, and are in line to collect their GI benefits? Anybody got further information, please let us know!

The basement of this building was later a liquor store, according to a Hood River local’s note to the county history museum where this photo lives; but what it housed on July 9, 1946, we don’t know.
