It’s better to give than to receive … unless you can do both at the same time.
Gorge area wineries will be open Nov. 28-30 for the Columbia Gorge Thanksgiving Wine Weekend event, featuring new releases, food pairings and holiday discounts — and a variety of ways to help local charitable organizations make the holiday season brighter for those in need. Items being collected differ at each location and range from canned food to coats to toys. Some are offering a portion of their proceeds during the weekend, as well as collecting cash donations. Below is a list of participating wineries and the charity their events will support.
Analemma Wines: Blankets for local homeless shelter. Ascendente Winery: Donations in support of the Heart of Hospice Foundation. Aniche Winery: Mid-Columbia Action Council will receive that day’s tasting fees. Cathedral Ridge Winery: Unused dog toys, canned food or treats for Home at Last Humane Society.
Cascade Cliffs (Wishram and Hood River locations): Canned food for the Gorge Gives Back food drive. COR Cellars: Canned food for Washington Gorge Action Food Bank, benefiting Klickitat and Skamania Counties.
Domaine Pouillon: Tasting fees donated to Helping Hands Against Violence. Garnier Vineyards: Canned food drive.
The Gorge White House: Canned food drive for FISH Food Bank.
Jacob Williams: For each bottle purchased, $1 will be donated to The Next Door, Inc., to sponsor families in need. Maryhill Winery: Hat, gloves, scarf and coat drive.
