I have to begin the news with a big shout out to our Klickwood boys’ basketball team. For the second year in a row, Klickwood came out on top in the Helix Tournament. I think most of us over here were confident they’d do a repeat. They’re undefeated so far and have had three 80-plus point games among the last few they’ve played.
When Klickwood recently played Cornerstone Christian, the final score was 89-44. Every member of the team contributed in that game. I don’t know the number of points made by each player on the team, but I do know Glenwood sophomore Wyatt Patterson scored 30 points that night.
I’ve just learned that, in the latest 1A State-wide rankings, Klickwood ranks third. The team is off to a great start to their season. Way to go, Klickwood. We are all very proud of you.

We here in Glenwood are saddened to learn of the passing of a beloved community member. Eileen Brashers passed recently after a long illness. She was a long-time employee at Glenwood School District until her retirement several years ago. In addition to her sons Michael and Patrick and their children, Eileen is survived by her best friend, Anita Wellenbrock and all the Wellenbrock family and so many other dear friends.
She was preceded by her husband Tom and son Christopher.
Anita fondly remembers the fun times, shenanigans, and great trips they were able to enjoy together. Eileen will be greatly missed.

Glenwood Grange members gathered at the Pierce home on Dec. 14 to obligate new members and discuss ways to make the Grange an active community organization. Six new members took the Grange oath and have been obligated as members. The plan is to meet in January and elect a new slate of officers. Current president Linda Williams presided at the meeting.
Thanks to Mary Scott, several members new to the community and a few long-time members have joined. The new members have some great ideas to hold special events such as family game nights, helpful seminars, and so many other events that will benefit residents of our community.
With a dwindling membership and some health issues among the older members, it’s encouraging to see new life infused into our great little Glenwood Grange. I will include next meeting date in a later column, once it has been scheduled. Everyone is welcome to attend to see what the Grange is all about and how it can serve our community in so many ways.

We enjoyed attending the only two Little Klickwood middle school boys’ basketball games to be held in Glenwood this season. Our Glenwood boys participating, Cedar Steinbach and Hunter Fujia, are the only fifth graders on the entire combined Klickitat/Glenwood team but are awesome players. Despite their smaller size, those two have a lot of hustle and really play great out there. If you see Cedar or Hunter around town, please congratulate them on their great playing.

Have you noticed the amazing array of holiday lights going up on many of the homes here? It’s already beautiful and many people aren’t finished putting up their light displays. Jennifer Throop, who is spearheading this fun competition, says, “Okay, everyone, we have some money donations! I hope everyone is stepping up their game this year ... I’ve got my first map made, but won’t release it until the 19th.”
Well, I’m definitely getting excited. I heard that even some barns are getting decked out. Thank you for organizing this again this year, Jennifer.
