THE GORGE — OSU Hood River Extension Central Gorge Master Gardeners welcome home gardeners of all abilities to attend the upcoming Garden Gathering series of educational presentations. These free presentations will be held monthly through October and are designed to be interactive and aid in your growth as a gardener.
The Garden Gathering series continues with Central Gorge Master Gardener volunteer Christie Bradley and former Central Gorge Master Gardener Christine Bluestone presenting a workshop on seed saving. Topics to be covered in this workshop include open pollinated and hybrid varieties, annuals and biennials, processing seeds, the types of seed that are easiest to save and seed viability.
Bradley and Bluestone have a combined 28 years of experience in saving, sharing and using saved seeds.
“Seed saving is a great way to keep a favorite annual plant growing in your garden each year,” Bradley said.
“Knowing how to select viable seeds and how to prepare them for storage is key to your success,” Bluestone added.
Two sessions of the Garden Gathering Seed Saving Workshop will be held at different times and locations. The same information will be offered at each session.
Saturday, Sept. 14, 10-11:30 a.m. at the Hood River County Extension, 2990 Experiment Station Drive, Hood River.
Tuesday, Sept. 17, 6:30-8 p.m. at the White Salmon Library, 77 NE Wauna Ave., White Salmon.
All are welcome to attend and no registration is needed for this free workshop.
