Kids and families, lounging on blankets and lawn chairs, persevered under a thin layer of wildfire smoke Thursday night for the 42nd annual Families in the Park free community concert series. The shows run from 7-9 p.m. each Thursday in August, managed by the Hood River Lions Club. Above, Tom Petty cover band Petty Fever jams on stage in front of a passionate crowd of age-diverse dancers. Food carts are available on site. Families in the Park will return next week with the “Nate Bosford Band,” and the following with “Hit Machine” to wrap up the series. The Aug. 6 show was canceled due to poor air quality.
