Deschutes River documentary premiere

The film shows the degradation of one of the world’s finest trout and salmon sanctuaries. The Deschutes River is fed by rain and snow from the rugged mountains of central and eastern Oregon. Dams built 60 years ago wiped out prolific salmon and steelhead runs. The remaining 100 miles of free-flowing river became one of the region’s beloved whitewater adventure and fishing destinations.

The film’s director and Gorge resident Michael Peterson will give an introduction. A post-film Q&A is hosted by Sarah Cloud, Deschutes River Alliance (DRA) executive director. A reception will feature live music by Paul Chasman, composer of the film’s score.

This evening is organized by DRA, an advocacy organization “seeking collaborative solutions to threats facing the Wild and Scenic Deschutes River and its tributaries.” Details at deschutesriveralliance.org.
