THE DALLES — Cascade Singers are rehearsing for the 2024 Christmas Messiah Concert, scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 14, at 1 p.m. and again at 6 p.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, at Tenth and Union Streets.
Interested singers are invited to rehearse Mondays at 6:30 p.m. in the basement of Zion Lutheran.
This year, guest conductor Colin Sheperd will lead. Colin is staff pianist for the vocal and choir department at Portland State University, and a choir conductor and music director preparing Messiah choirs for the Oregon Symphony Orchestra. Cascade Singers’ artistic director and accompanist Garry Estep and music director Paul Viemeister will work with Sheperd.
The 2023 Christmas Messiah drew 250 audience members from all over Oregon and Washington for one performance. This year, 2023 soloists Anna Viemeister, Jeremy Griffin, Samuel Varhan and Rebecca Gooch will return. A planned expansion of the 10-piece orchestra would include more strings, double reeds, trumpet and tympani.
