“Made entirely in natural colors! Adolph Zukor and Jesse L. Lasky Present Zane Grey’s Wanderer of the Wasteland,” read this Nov. 13, 1924 ad in The Dalles Daily Chronicle. Jack Holt, Kathlyn Williams, Noah Beery and Billie Dove starred in the Paramount Picture.

A caption at the bottom of this ad suggests: “How good are the children with water colors or crayon? Try them on this.”

Rialto Theater Hit By Fire

Fire, of undetermined origin, at 11 a.m. yesterday morning, broke out in the projection room at the Rialto theater, and quickly spread to the lobby. The fire department was quickly on the scene, and the blaze was under control in less than fifteen minutes, but not before the projection room, the lobby and box office had been badly damaged. Charles Gamble, who had been oiling the projectors and had left the projection room for only a few minutes, returned to find the projection room roaring with flame. In his efforts to close the door of the room he was burned across his forehead. The Rialto theater will be closed intendedly, but programs will be maintained at the Cascadian theater, announces Gamble.
