Clay Simon of Mosier has written of many travels and activities in the Hood River News over the years, from llama trekking in the Goat Rocks Wilderness to sailing the South Pacific. He owned Mt. Hood Llama Farms in the upper valley and then in Mosier. Simon retired as general manager of Mt. Hood Meadows in 1994, after 18 years in the position. He worked at Grand Targhee in Wyoming and in Colorado earlier in his career.

According to Simon, if anyone is interested in learning more about adding the Camino Trail to their bucket list, the internet is replete with many references. The best detailed 33 stage guide book is John Brierley’s book: “Camino de Santiago.” Also, there are two Camino Associations, one national and one local chapter in Portland, the latter which holds monthly walks and has even produced an hour video on interviews with six pilgrims who have completed the Camino Frances.
