Parkdale Elementary is gearing up for its carnival on Friday, March 8, and is seeking local businesses and community members’ help donating raffle prizes.
The carnival is the school’s biggest annual fundraiser and most of the money raised comes from the sale of the raffle tickets, already being sold by Parkdale students and PTO members for $1 each.
Money raised at the carnival helps to sponsor extra academic and fitness programs, assemblies, field trips, the SMART reading program and classroom supplies for the students.
If you or your business would like to donate a raffle item, please bring it to the Parkdale Elementary School office or contact Sarah Wilson at 541-352-9303 to arrange for pickup.

This Thursday, Feb. 21, is the night for community members to enjoy dinner at Cooper Spur Restaurant from 5-8 p.m. and support Parkdale Elementary.
Twenty percent of all proceeds from meals purchased will be donated to the school and will go toward purchasing new playground equipment.
Reservations are recommended by calling the restaurant at 541-352-6036 or visiting www.cooperspur.com.
The community is encouraged to bring their family and friends out for a great meal and a great cause.

“Gnomeo and Juliet” will be shown on free Family Movie Night this Friday, Feb. 22, in the Parkdale Elementary library.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and the movie starts at 6:30 p.m.
Parkdale PTO members will have popcorn and licorice available for families to buy and enjoy during the movie.
Though the movie is free, donations are always appreciated and help sponsor extra programs and supplies for students.

There are only five skating sessions left for the season of the Parkdale Skate Club.
Skating will continue every Saturday evening at the Parkdale Elementary gym from 6 to 8 p.m. until March 23.

Kindergarten Round-Up will be held March 4-8 at Parkdale Elementary for children who will turn 5 on or before Sept. 1.

Before registering their incoming kindergartners, parents need to make sure their children’s immunizations are up-to-date and they have an immunization record for them as well as a birth certificate.

Thanks go out to the Lions Club for generously making a matching donation to the Parkdale Elementary Penny Drive proceeds of $497.83 in pennies this year.
“The students were ecstatic,” said PTO member Sarah Wilson. “We greatly appreciate the generous donation by the Lions Club.”
