Oktoberfest in Washougal, Arlington

The cost is $13 and includes a commemorative ceramic beer stein (while supplies last) and the first fill of Amnesia beer. Featured beers are Mother Plucker Fresh Hop, Berliner Weisse, Alt-oberfest, and Porter. Cider and wine will also be offered.

“The Oktoberfest has grown the past two years and we are confident that this will become a new Washougal tradition,” said Courtney Wilkinson, DWA president. “This is a great event to celebrate the change of season and our community.”

A very popular part of the event is the commemorative steins. “People just love them,” Wilkinson said. “They have a cool, old world look and hold plenty of beer.” Last year, steins ran out, but organizers will have plenty on hand for attendees to take home as souvenirs.

Providing a taste of Germany will be the Camas and Washougal Lions serving up traditional Oktoberfest food for the event. The menu will include favorites such as German brats, big pretzels with fondue dip, chicken schnitzel, hot red cabbage salad and more. Proceeds will benefits the Lion’s charitable projects.

The event welcomes back two German accordion players performing toe tapping tunes. Also on stage will be The King Brothers featuring dance music from the ‘70s and ‘80s. Entertainment will run from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. both nights.

A portion of the proceeds will go to the DWA to help fund future community events and association projects.

“Our work includes helping to strengthen local business by creating interest and pride in our town,” Wilkinson said. “We are excited to invite visitors from all over the region to come experience Oktoberfest and Washougal.”

Oktoberfest in Arlington

A big autumn party is also coming to Gilliam County in October. The event in downtown Arlington will offer fun for all ages.

“Let’s Raise a Barn” runs from Oct. 16-18 with music by Countryfied, Wheeler County Ramblers, Brewer’s Grade and more. A social begins at 4 p.m. and a prime rib dinner follows at 5:30 p.m., along with an art show, auctions, raffle and pumpkin patch.

Events for every age group include: Human foosball, scarecrow contest, pumpkin carving, 5K walk/run, dunk tank, golf and horseshoe tournaments, fishing derby, pumpkin cake and apple strudel contests and a bouncy house.

The event is coordinated by The Woolery, Gilliam County’s future regional event center.
