The Pine Grove-Odell United Methodist Church will host its annual free Harvest Dinner on Nov. 16, beginning at 5 p.m. in the Odell Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Dinner will include a full turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Donations of canned food and money will be accepted for FISH Food Bank.
The church will hold its annual Christmas Bazaar Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., also at the Odell church. Handmade Christmas crafts, home baked goodies, soup and homemade pie with ice cream are all hallmarks of the event.

One more holiday bazaar for the calendar: The Last Chance Christmas Bazaar is scheduled for Dec. 14-15 at the fairgrounds in Odell. Fair Manager Clara Rice says there are only 10 vendor spaces left on a first-come, first-served basis. For more info call the fair office at 541-354-2865.

The Odell Garden Club will hold its annual wreath and swag-making event Nov. 19 beginning at 9 a.m. in the Community Building at the fairgrounds. Everyone is invited to attend; please bring evergreens, holly and other greens for the wreaths and swags, as well as a dish for the potluck lunch. The Odell Garden Club’s swags and wreaths traditionally decorate downtown Odell during the holiday season.
The garden club hosted the annual Mt. Hood District Garden Clubs fall meeting Oct. 26 at the Community Building at the fairgrounds. Clubs from Hood River, Maupin, Parkdale and Odell attended, as did Oregon State Federation of Garden Clubs Inc. President Peggy Olin and two guests. Special guest speaker Blayne Eineichner, fish habitat biologist for Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs Reservation of Oregon, spoke on the fish habitat restoration program in the Hood River Basin, said Odell Garden Club president Norma Curtis.

Wy’east Middle School’s sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade band classes will perform Nov. 7 from 7-8 p.m. in the school’s performing arts center. “Families are invited to come and enjoy the work that has been done in class with Music Director Brian McFadden as it culminates into the melodies scheduled for their first concert of the year,” says school representative Teri Adams. The choir will perform Nov. 14, also from 7-8 p.m. in the performing arts center.
First quarter report cards will be mailed out on Friday, and parents can expect to see them Saturday or Monday, Adams says.
There will be no school on Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day. “Community members, please remember to be aware of children that may be walking, running or playing along our roadways!” says Adams.
