Mid-Columbia Community Choir Ladies Chorus will present a benefit concert on June 7, at 3 p.m. in the Grace Baptist Church sanctuary at 1280 W Jewett, White Salmon, Wash.
Admission is free but a free will offering will be received for WA Gorge Action Programs Food Bank. This local agency serves those in need to alleviate hunger by distributing food regularly and on an emergency basis.
Mid-Columbia Community Choir Ladies Chorus is a gorge based ladies group formed in 2013 and made up of 18 ladies who are members of the larger choir. Each month the ladies visit one of several local care facilities singing for shut-ins and bring their message of hope through music. They have performed bedside concerts for individuals and families in hospice care.
The Ladies Chorus will perform classical to contemporary pieces including “Amazing Grace,” a well-known hymn and “Merrick,” an 18th century piece both written by John Newton. The chorus also will perform Dr. Mack Wilberg’s classical arrangement of “My Shepherd Will Supply My Need” and the opening them of the popular animated musical Frozen entitled, “Eatnemen Vuelie.”
The program will feature two solos: Stephenie Gross singing, “You Are Good,” and Anita Decker singing, “Your Grace Still Amazes Me.”
Anita will be joined by Suzanne Kelso, a gifted signer for the deaf.
Perry Cole is the director of the Mid-Columbia Community Choir and also directs the Ladies Chorus. “The Ladies have come together to sing both acapella and accompanied music that uplifts,” says Perry. “Many people over the past 2 and a half years have been blessed by the beautiful voices and harmony of these ladies.”
