Here are last week’s reports from the bowling leagues at Hood River’s Orchard Lanes:
Monday Night Industrial league:
The Crew team (JD Blackford, Fred Bergren and Matt Hodges) is leading the third round in the league with 70 points. In second, one point behind, is The Rollers trio. The Mt. Hood BBQ squad is in third place with 62 points. The third round still has five weeks to go, so expect lots of changes yet to come.
Last week’s top score in the league was posted by power ball artist AJ Perdue in a sub role for the 3 Fingers Deep team. AJ rode a sharp 267 game on to a 651 series. And Joey Sheirbon notched a 235 game for his Pat’s Pro Shop threesome.
Tuesday Nite Mixed league:
This will be the last week in the second half of the Mixed league. It looks like the Double A Orchards team (Spencer Hansen, Erin Salisbury, Aron Asai and Nancy Asai) is going to win the second half. Double A is currently in first place with 27 wins.
First-half winner, the dangerous Mad Skilz foursome, and the Taco Tuesday gang are tied for second place with 24 wins. The roll off for the championship of the Mixed league will occur in two weeks. The topnotch Double A and Mad Skilz teams have already qualified for the roll off, due to winning season-long performance in the league.
Two other teams will join them in the roll off, but it’s currently unclear who those two teams will be. Perhaps the CPR and Taco Tuesday teams, but that will depend on the outcome of this week’s key matches: Taco Tuesday bowls the Split Faced team, and CPR bowls the Gutter Dawgs crew. It appears Taco Tuesday and CPR need to win their matches this week in order to qualify for the league championship roll off.
Last week’s top scores in Mixed league action were tossed by the Take Ten team’s smooth Ken Espersen who rolled a big 254 game and Double A’s all-star Nancy Asai, who led the ladies with a 204.
Wednesday afternoon senior Colts & Fillies league:
The We Tried (Barb Johnson, Anne Brady and Neil Johnson) and Cousins (Joella Dethman, Margaret Goddard and Robert Goddard) teams are now tied for first place in the league with 23 wins. The Skamaniacs and Jesse’s teams are tied for third place with 21 wins. There are still six weeks to go in the second half of the senior league.
Stalwart Rice Krispies team anchorman Lynn Spellman led the senior league in scoring last week with a snap, crackle and popping 653 series that included a lofty 258 game. Matt Phillips also found pay dirt with a 204 game and his teammate Paul Dethman shot a 201 for their Rolling Pins team.
Wednesday night Fraternal league:
The Fraternal league also has six weeks to go in its third round. It’s really bunched up at the top right now. Currently the Mt. Hood BQQ team (Tyson Trout, Mike Bosse, and John Riggleman) is in first place with 65 points; their rivals, Get Hu’sum BBQ, is in second with 63 points; and the Tres Psicos crew is in third with 61 points.
John Riggleman and Tyson Trout emerged as the big guns for the first place Mt. Hood BBQ-ers last week. John rolled a beautiful 690 series that was capped by a 278 game and his teammate, Mr. Trout, chipped in a solid 244 game as they thumped the formidable Hood River Athletic Club trio 16-9.
Speedy Stan Pratnicki kept his rival Get Hu’sum BBQ crew in the hunt last week as he scorched a 245 game and 658 series.
Lynn Spellman stayed hot following his last session in the senior league by logging a strike-filled 247 game for his MD squad, who trounced the Red Rockets team 18-7.
Young all-star Chad Mason did a little pin busting of his own. He racked up a fine 242 game that resuscitated his Bowling Stones gang from the agony of defeat against the powerful Orchard Lanes crew.
Thursday afternoon County league:
It’s also getting close to the end of the second half of the county league. Only three weeks to go.
The first-place Munsons team (Dane Backman, Tommy Hood and Jay Slack) got slammed last week by The (not so) Unbowlievables, who whitewashed them in a 4-0 sweep. The Munsons are still in first place with 23 wins and The Holy Rollers threesome is cloistered in second with 21 wins.
Good scores in the County league included Jason Borton’s 219 game as he led his Save the Pins team to a 4-0 wipe out of the Split Happens trio; Victor Flores rolled an excellent 214 game for his BS-ers squad; newcomer Tony Conley crunched a cool 208 game for his Over the Line squad; and the dynamic duo of Gordon Pillon and all-star Melissa Werkheiser were definitely on point last week for their Pins in Low Places team as Gordon tossed 204 and 200 games while Melissa chipped in a nice 200.
Let’s go bowling, everyone!
