Here are the latest bowling league highlights at Hood River’s fun spot, Orchard Lanes:
Monday Night Industrial league:
With six weeks to go in the third round of the Indus-trial, all eleven teams are still in it to win it. Here are the results of the key matches last week:
Randy’s Painting smoked Mt. Hood BBQ 19-6.
Pat’s Pro Shop drilled MTS 18-7 as Pro Shop anchorman Pat Olson crushed the sticks with a 728 series that was capped by a 265 game and his side kick, teammate Joey Sheirbon contributed a 236 game in the match.
Orchard Lanes bowled over 3 Fingers Deep 18-7 behind the pin busting talent of Ken Kramer who tossed a 623 series that was 113 sticks over his average. OL’7-10 chopped down Clear Cutters 17-8. Lynn Spellman starred for the 7-10 boys with a 237 game and 651 series while Rod Pratt paced the Cutters in a losing cause with a 251 game.
Hood River Supply edged The Crew 13-12. Aaron Troxel’s thumbless power ball led Supply with a 236 game and 635 series but his better half and teammate, Shannon Troxel really impacted the outcome of the match as she beat her average by 102 pins.
Tuesday Nite Mixed League:
We’re getting down to brass tacks in the Mixed with just two weeks to go in the second half of the league. The room at the top is really congested. CPR and Double A Orchards are tied for first with 23 wins; first half winner, the dangerous Mad Skilz foursome is in second with 22 wins; Taco Tuesday is in third with 21 wins and Who Gives A Split us in fourth with 19 wins.
All of these four teams are in a great position to win the second half. But here is a biggie: There will be a critical match between CPR and Double A this week which could really impact things for the top four teams. The possibilities are nearly endless, of course, so we won’t go into them now but to capitalize on this opportunity, Mad Skilz and Taco Tuesday should put the pedal to the metal in the next two weeks while eying that CPR vs Double A match, hoping it ends up in a 2-2 split. The next two weeks are going to be FUN!
Here are results from the key matches last week:
Hood River Supply wiped Team Kawachi 4-0. Team Nishi did the same to Are You Splitting Me sweeping them 4-0.
CPR topped Take Ten 3-1. Split Faced took down Double A Orchards 3-1 despite Erin Salisbury’s 207 game for the Double Trouble gang.
Mad Skilz had an epic battle with Who Gives A Split, winning 3-1 as Jeremy and Jennifer Bloom starred for the Skilz quartet against the Splitters Patrick Olson. Jennifer rolled a 209 game and Jeremy, the syrupy smooth staccato stepping stick smasher from Parkdale, stroked a brilliant 731 set in this match. Patrick was in another zone though as he racked up a jackpot special 777 series in his team’s losing cause.
What a match! The first game was a classic as Jeremy posted a 279 game. You would think a score that big would be good enough, right? Wrong! Patrick went one better, blasting a 280 game. Jeremy rolled a 239 in his second game of the match and Patrick stayed white hot, notching a 267. Still, Mad Skilz won that game by a mere eight pins, and they took total pins for the match by only nine sticks. Quite a battle, huh?
Wednesday afternoon senior Colts & Fillies league:
We Tried (Barb Johnson, Anne Brady and Neil Johnson) moved into first place with 22 wins, one better than Jesse’s Team who are now in second place. Cousins took over third place with 20 wins. There are still 7 weeks to go in the second half of the senior league, so it is more than likely you are going to see a lot more flip-flopping at the top. Anything can and probably will happen.
Top scores in the senior league last week included:
Mick Sherrell with a 210 game for Jesse’s Team. The feature match between Gutter Gals and Rice Krispies saw another epic head-to-head battle be-tween anchor bowlers. The Spellman’s really got into it as Sue rolled a 209 game for her Gutter Gals trio, but hubby Lynn was having none of that. He earned bragging rights this time with a 233 game. Nevertheless, Sue got the last laugh since her Gutter Gals beat Lynn’s snap, crackle, and poppers 3-1.
Wednesday night Fraternal league:
The Fraternal league is also only three weeks into its third round. We’ve got a long way to go. Here are the match results and stars in the Fraternal league last week:
Tres Psicos beat Orchard Lanes 19-6. Bloom Auto Body cooked Mt. Hood BBQ 17-8 be-hind the skid-flip slants of Bloomer anchorman and postman Bryan Mason who slugged out a 650 set that included a 241 game.
Rob Miller keyed his Get Hu’sum BBQ team to a 16.5-8.5 win over Hood River Athletic Club. Rob was the big gun as he posted a 661 series that included 237 and 254 games.
The MD’s and Bowling Stones had a close one with the MD’s prevailing with a 14 to 11 win. All-star Ciena Brittle kept her Stones crew in the match with a 221 game. The top score in the Fraternal for the evening was recorded by The Dalles’ John Helm who got a strong start that included 279 and 245 games. John held on to just climb above that magical 700 mark with a 702 series.
Thursday afternoon County league:
Last week The Munsons (Dane Backman, Tommy Hood and Jay Slack) extended their first place lead to six games over the second-place Holy Rollers. The Munsons lead the County league with 23 wins. There is still four weeks to go in the second half, but with The Munsons opening up this six-game lead, it’s going to be hard to beat them.
There was more good bowling in the County league last week. Jay Slack and once again Victor Flores starred. Jay Slack bowled 110 pins over his aver-age to lead his first place Munsons squad to a 4-0 sweep of Split Happens. Jay tossed a cool 632 set that was capped by a nifty 239 game.
Victor Flores remained hot, firing 224 and 223 games to climb above that 600 milestone once again with a 604 series. Victor led his BS-ers team to a 3-1 win over Pins in Low places.
And, finally, like his bouncing golf ball, Yoyo Cer-vantes put some big-time English on his bowling ball last week as he recorded another good game, a 207, to lead his Incredibowls gang to a 3-1 win over Lady Ballers.
Team of the week
1. Patrick Olson, 777
2. Jeremy Bloom, 731
3. John Helm, 702
4. Rob Miller, 661
5. Lynn Spellman, 651
Total pins: 3,522
Let’s GO BOWLING everyone!
