Last week’s photo, above, shows Allen’s Cash Store, formerly of Odell.  That scan of a glass negative was reprinted courtesy of History Museum of Hood River County. It was located at the northeast corner of Summit Road and Odell Highway in the 1930s, when this photo was taken. It’s spot near the grade school and stock of candy and school supplies made it a favorite stop for kids, the museum said. “Cash Store” could mean lower prices back then, than other rural stores that sold things on credit. Also sold Prince Albert in a can, whatever that is.
