THE DALLES — Wastewater discharged into the Columbia River held a level of the dangerous bacteria E. coli above what the state allows on Oct. 28, The Dalles Public Works announced Thursday.
Multiple samples taken that day confirmed it, and the city placed signs between Riverfront Park and west Mayer State Park warning people not to touch the water.
The disinfection process is working at full capacity and staff will sample the water more frequently until E. coli levels drop back to an acceptable range.
