THE GORGE — SafeSpace Children’s Advocacy Center, Hood River, recently launched its Mind Body youth program, providing therapy appointments for children and teens. The program also educates about the connection between physical, emotional and mental health.
Minors affected by personal trauma will be prioritized, but services are available to any youth from Hood River, Wasco, Gilliam, Wheeler and Klickitat counties, as well as the Tribes of Umatilla, Yakama, Warm Springs and Nez Perce.
Parents or guardians can request services for their child; teens 14 and older may self-refer, said a SafeSpace press release.
A team of experienced therapists are currently available Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, including after-school appointments. Program days will expand as demand allows.
Telehealth options are available for those unable to travel to Hood River without hardship. The program is an approved PacificSource provider, with more insurers in the process of being added.
